I saw this posted on Facebook over the weekend, and felt compelled to share it here. This is the senior project for a very talented young lady, Makensie Marcigan, entitled Think Before You Speak. However, not only is she extremely gifted in creating a video that looks like something an experienced videographer would produce, she is also a role model for high school students everywhere.
We often hear about the poor decisions some teenagers make online- whether it’s bullying another person or tweeting their way out of a college scholarship or job. Makensie is a stellar example of a teen who is doing something about it. The strength required for a teenage girl to emerge as a leader in the fight against cyberbullying is massive. She did a beautiful job of creating an impactful video that will cause anyone who views it to think twice before posting something that could hurt another.
As Makensie points out, suicide is the 3rd leading cause of death among teens – and teens who are bullied are 5 times more likely to take their own lives. That’s a statistic that we can’t afford to live with. And a statistic Makensie seems committed to change.
Take 4 minutes out of your day to watch this video. Over 20,000 people already have… great job, Makensie!!
